Art
Darren 6th Class:- "I did this portrait of myself by looking in a mirror and drawing from my reflection. It wasn't really that difficult. Some people recognised me from my picture even without my name being attached."
Carol 6th Class: "Colouring in with dots - Pointillism. For this art we used an A4 sheet of paper - we could half the A4 sheet to draw our picture on. We started by drawing a border. Afterwards we drew the outline of our picture. When we had finished we used markers to colour in the picture with dots. We could use as many colours as we wanted."
Cian 6th Class:- "I did this creat by looking at the keyring I got for a present. It is the McDonnell family crest. I divided the page into 4 parts, then I drew the pictures onto the crest. Finally I outlined it in black marker and coloured it in. At the end I wrote 'McDonnell' ".
Eoin 5th Class:- "Wax Resist. To do this picture I used crayons, paint, a pencil and a ruler. I started by deciding what to draw at the centre. I drew a picture of a palm tree. Then I drew a frame with my pencil and ruler. You could draw a design in the corners of the frame. I coloured in with wax crayons. I leaned very hard on the crayons to get it right. When that was finished, I painted over the whole picture. Surprisingly, the picture could still be seen as the wax in the crayons resisted the paint."
Sinéad 5th Class:- "Ms. Gilligan photocopied a zebra from an art book. We cut the zebra out and used newspapers for the stripes. I cut out the strips of newspaper and stuck the strips on the zebra. I got a piece of white paper and stuck the zebra on it. I drew a tree and a sun. Then I got chalk pastels and coloured the background. I really enjoyed doing this art."
Sarah 6th Class:- "Ms Gilligan gave us grease proof paper and we drew a web with a ruler and pencil. It took us a while as it kept turning out crooked. After that we got a silver glitter pen and we went around the web. To make it like a real web we needed a spider! We got black paper and cut out an oval for the body, two circles for the eyes and white circles for inside. We cut out lines for the legs, to make them wrinkled we wrapped the paper around a pencil. To attach the spider to the web, we used black thread and sellotape. We put them on the classroom window and they looked lovely with the light shining through."
Laura 6th Class:- "My class did a picture of a season tree. The tree shows the four seasons Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. The Spring shows the pink flowers bloming. The Summer section shows the tree covered in lovely green leaves. The Autumn section shows the colourful leaves falling and lovely green apples appearing. The Winter section shows the bare branches."
Alicia 6th Class:- "My class did an unusual picture some time ago. We looked in an art book and chose a picture we liked. I picked this two dimensional house because it looked like a lovely lived in house. I began by drawing the outline of the house, the tree, the clouds, the sun and the fence. I then coloured it in with lines. This excercise is called colour and tone."
Sinéad 6th Class:- "Exploding Shapes. I got a sheet of white paper. I folded it twice to make four equal squares. I lightly marked the central point on it.Then I cut some gummed paper into four equal parts and cut a curved line close to the corners. I stuck them all close to the central point. I began at one corner and started to make a pattern in one of the squares. I did the same on the opposite side. Now I had two squares left! I chose a different design and completed the picture. It took me a long time, but I enjoyed it."
