About Brideswell N.S.

 

Brideswell N.S. is a three teacher school located approximately 10km from Athlone in south Roscommon. The school celebrates its centerary in 2001. In 1994 the school extension was opened. The school yard was also extended and a basketball court lined out. The school uniform is navy with a blue shirt and navy tie.

Presently there are 65 pupils on roll. Ms. Carmel Kelly teaches junior infants, senior infants and first class. Ms. Majella O'Connor teaches second, third and fourth classes. Ms. Joan Gilligan teaches fifth and sixth classes. Mr. Brendan Sheehy is our learning support teacher and visits the school twice weekly. Our caretaker is Mr. Michael Dolan.

The Board of Management members are: Fr. Hugh Lee (Chairperson) and Fr. Colm Hayes P.P. (Patron's Representatives), Carmel Kelly and Joan Gilligan (School representatives), Catherine Egan (Treasurer) and Ronan Morris (Parents' Representatives), Ann Dolan Dudgeon(Secretary) and Tony Colgan (Community Representative).

The Parent's Association is as follows: Mary Finnerty (Chairperson), Bernadette Burke (Secretary), Carmel Grehan and Catherine Egan.

Our mission statement is as follows:- "The school will provide an environment where each student is cherished equally and is nurtured to a personal, intellectual and moral maturity. We aspire to holistic education encompassing the intellectual, moral, religious, personal, physical and social dimensions of our being. Our christian ethos encourages respect for ourselves and one another."
